Cheap Nvidia GF100/GTX400 this summer

Last week there were also reports that cheaper, DX11-capable Fermi-based GeForce graphics cards will be arriving sometime this summer, possibly June. We contacted Nvidia to find out whether this was the case or another churn in the rumor mill. According to the company, that is indeed the case, and was actually mentioned by Nvidia executives at a recent financial conference.
It's certainly clear that Nivida needs to churn out a few low-priced GF100 cards rather quick for the budget gamer.

GTX 480/470 Design Garage Tech Demo by Nvidia

The Garage Design is a demo based on OptiX, NVIDIA’s real time and programmable ray tracer optimized for GPUs.
via nvidia forum :
"We just released a demo called Design Garage for the GTX 480 launch that is a good example of using both SceniX and OptiX: This demo uses SceniX for its 3D framework and OptiX for all of its rendering, and you will find it runs about 3.5X faster on a GTX480 than on a GTX 280.

Of interest to SceniX developers – the demo is built upon SceniX 5.5 and uses QT toolkit along with its Kinetic extensions for its GUI. The OptiX shaders use the standard SceniX ray tracing traverser, and the demo uses standard SceniX APIs. In short, this demo could have been developed entirely outside of NVIDIA on our standard SDKs.

Of interest to OptiX developers - the demo has two rendering modes (interactive and photoreal) which are similar to "Whitted" and a physically correct path tracer. The demo’s rendering is produced by a paired set of 4 shaders (with the help of OptiX of course) which use Whitted for navigation and path tracing on mouse up. The shaders themselves are Phong, Glass, Metal and Car Paint.

Finally, while this demo has similarities to the path tracing example we showed last SIGGRAPH in New Orleans (also running on SceniX with OptiX), it’s completely new. Members of the OptiX team began first began writing the shaders after shipping OptiX in November, and the completed them before the holidays – showing you can get very far, very quickly on top OptiX. GTX 400 OC tool Afterburner 1.6.0 Beta 1

A few important notes on initial GTX 400 series support.
  • It is no longer possible to adjust core and shader clocks independently on GTX 400 series. Shader clock is the primary and the only controlable GPU clock for this NVIDIA GPU architecture, the rest parts of core are clocked @ half of shader clock (1/2 ratio is hardwired). So you will have only shader clock slider unlocked on GF100 GPUs, core clock slider is no longer available on these cards. That is by design and must be so.
  • It is no longer possible to downclock memory for 3D mode. So the minimum limit for memory clock matches with default 3D clock. It is also by design and must be so.
  • Currently available public GF100 drivers have open issue with fixed fan control mode on GTX 400 series: once you enable fixed fan control mode, it is impossible to switch fan control back to default automatic fan speed mode. Reboot is required to restore automatic fan control mode. NVIDA are aware about issue and the fix is already available in new drivers (not available to public yet). So keep it in mind and in meanwhile don't forget to reboot the system to resotre automatic fan control mode if you play with fixed fan control mode in any tool. Alternately, just enable Afterburner's software automatic fan speed mode. It will do the job instead of NV driver until the fix is available.
  • Voltage control for GTX 400 series in not implemented yet.
[Changelog] Afterburner 1.6.0 Beta 1
- Added initial NVIDIA GeForce GTX 400 series graphics cards support
- Added basic screen capture support by means of built-in screen capture engine of MSI On-Screen Display server. Now it is possible to assign the hotkey for capturing screenshots in BMP, PNG or JPG formats in DirectX applications and in BMP format on desktop or in OpenGL applications
- Added hardware monitoring history logging support. Now MSI Afterburner is able to save history in native RivaTuner Hardware Monitoring Log file format. The log files captured with MSI Afterburner can be viewed in any text editor like Notepad or in graphics form in RivaTuner's HML file viewer (RivaTuner must be installed for viewing log files in graphics form)
- Added new safety option allowing forcring constant voltage on some cards with voltage regulators supporting programmable dynamic voltage management (e.g. VT1165 or uP6266). New safety option may improve stability on some systems as well as provide power state independent voltage control on the systems with non-standard voltage control implementation
- MSI On-Screen Display server has been upgraded to version 3.7.0. New server gives you a lot of improvements including:
- Stealth mode automatic disabling feature. Now the server is able to disable
stealth mode automatically if incompatible application like FRAPS is active.
You no longer need to disable stealth mode manually if you need to run the
server simultaneously with FRAPS, but keep in mind that stealth technologies will not be active in this case
- DirectX11 On-Screen Display and screen capture support
- Screen capture support for DirectX10 and DirectX11 applications using
multisampled antialiasing or non-standard frame buffer formats (e.g. sRGB)
- Optional On-Screen Display 3D rendering mode. New mode uses 3D accelerated DirectX functions to emulate previously used 2D framebuffer access function and render 2D text. New rendering mode provides On-Screen Display support in DirectX10 and DirectX11 applications using multisampled antialiasing and can also drastically reduce OSD related performance hit on the systems with badly optimized 2D acceleration in display drivers
- Now screenshot file extension is forcibly set to BMP if JPG or PNG screen capture is requested on desktop or in OpenGL application
- Simplified On-Screen Display coordinate space settings. Rarely used desktop and window coordinate space modes have been merged into single framebuffer coordinate space mode
- Now the server automatically selects framebuffer coordinate space instead
of viewport coordinate space when viewport is not accessible (e.g. if pure Direct3D8 device is in use)
- Improved application notification scheme during runtime profiles adjustment. Now runtime changes in OSD application profiles (e.g. OSD zoom ratio change on the fly) are reflected in affedted application almost immedaitely instead of approximately 1 second delay in the previos versions
- Reduced runtime skin engine memory footprint due to dynamic skin storage
unloading
- Updated profiles list
- Now MSI Afterburner distributive includes original 128x128 PNG application
logo (stored in .\Graphics folder) for dockbar applications like RocketDock
or ObjectDock
- It is no longer necessary to close the application to save monitoring window
attachment state
- Added Ukrainian localization

[Changelog] Kombustor 1.02
! Change: Xtreme burning mode displays a warning message (high power draw can cause instability).
! Change: GPU indices inversion to match Afterburner indices.
* Bugfix: in OpenGL 3 rendering, the instructions for use were wrong
* Bugfix: in clocks display (core, memory and shader) for NVIDIA boards.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier video trailer

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (previously known as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 4)  is a video game published by Ubisoft and due for release in 2010.  Excluding expansions, it is the fifth installment in the Ghost Recon series, and was announced to be in development by Ubisoft on January 22, 2009. The game will be a futuristic take on the Ghost Recon series.
Initially, the title was revealed to be Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Predator by an OFLC release.  However in December 2009, "Ghost Recon: Future Soldier" was trademarked by Ubisoft, raising speculation that this could be the name for the upcoming Ghost Recon 4.  This was subsequently confirmed by an official announcement.
While the release of Future Soldier was targeted for the 2009-2010 fiscal year, Ubisoft later announced that the release date would be pushed back until the 2010-2011 fiscal year to "strengthen" its video game line-up.

Counter Strike Player Get a Knife in the Head !

It happened in China’s northern province of Jilin, inside a net café that does not require the regulated identification cards for those to play. In a group playing Counter-Strike over the LAN, one 17-year-old boy was fingered for using a "wall hack" cheat that obviously angered the other players.

A fight broke outside the internet café, where the 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the head with a 30cm blade that made it through the width of the skull. Astonishingly, the boy remained conscious of what was happening as he was being rushed off to the hospital. After 10 hours of surgery, doctors were able to remove the blade but are still concerned over bacteria and rust particles that may have found their way into the brain.

Doctors say that the 17-year-old boy was lucky that the knife did not damage the intracranial blood vessels, though they are still unsure as what the long-term prognosis is.

HD 5870 VS HD 5970 in Crysis Benchmark

sapphire Radeon HD 5870 Toxic beat His Radeon HD5970in crysis

A 2GB frame-buffer enables the Radeon HD 5870 GPU to breathe when really taxed. Indeed, it's faster than a Radeon HD 5970 - a card that has to share its frame-buffer between the GPUs.

A near-30 per cent performance increase over a generic HD 5870 is down to more than just clock-speed, clearly.

HD 5870 Specifications :

Core i5 655K Specifications with unlocking feature

Core i5 655K is a dual-core with four treads clocked at 3.2GHz and based on a 32nm CPU core and 45nm graphics core that are also integrated on the chip.

This CPU certainly supports Turbo and since this CPU is completely unlocked it should overclock much better than the currently available Core i5 650. Core i5 650 is also clocked at 3.2GHz and has 4MB cache but it’s not completely unlocked and you can only have limited success with overclocking.

The new Core i5 655K fits in socket LGA 1156 and has a 73W TDP. The price is expected In the US Core i5 sells for $194.90, In Europe the same CPU sells for some €150 and the unlocked K version is most likely to cost a few euro more.

Sparkle Geforce 210 Specifications

Sparkle Geforce 210 features a 128-bit memory interface, which makes it sort of a hybrid between the GT 220 and the regular G210 that has a 64-bit memory interface.

Despite the wider 128-bit memory interface, the new Geforce 210 is still an entry-level card as it features 24 cores, and ticks at 475MHz for the GPU and 1100MHz for shaders. The card is equipped with 1GB of DDR2 memory clocked at 800MHz.
