Hitachi technology prepare 24TB HDD with 3.9Tbit per square inch

Hitachi technology and the Japanese New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) managed to develop a technology allow 3.9Tbit per square inch , so this will paves the way for the creation of hard disk drives with a storage capacity of up to 24TB.

More details will be presented next week at the 2010 Material Research Society Fall meeting in Boston, Massachusetts.

Essentially, when you are recording on a magnetic material, bits (a collection of magnetized particles) are laid out end-to-end on disk platters. Storage capacity is generally increased by decreasing the size of the magnetic grains that make-up data bits. As the magnetic grains became smaller or arranged more efficiently, more data could then be stored on the disk. The Japanese researchers have developed an ultra-high density patterning technology based on a self-arranged phenomenon of polymer materials. The materials allowed for the formation of accurate magnetic structures sized just 10nm.
The technology, when applied to current density HDD (with areal density of about 500Gbits / square inch), will result to an 8-fold increase in the recording density. This means that we could see HDD with capacities of 24TB in the future.

Opera 11 beta with tab stacking feature /Download link

abbed browsing, one of the essential features in all browsers, has evolved yet again thanks to its long-time pioneer. Opera 11 beta introduces tab stacking, a better way to organize your open tabs. Traditionally, tabs were opened side-by-side, but now people using Opera can stack their tabs, grouping them by site or by theme. Tab stacking reduces clutter and makes it easier to identify and work with sets of open tabs.  

It is easy to stack tabs. Simply drag one tab on top of another. Hovering the mouse over a tab will cause the stack to expand in a visual preview. Clicking the arrow icon expands the current stack across the tab bar. This brief video showcases tab stacking in action: youtube video.

“Tabs are the most popular feature in browsers today,” said Jan Standal, VP of Desktop Products, Opera. “Because so many of us wrestle with tens or even hundreds of open tabs, we needed a way to simplify tab management. Just like stacking papers for future reference, stacking your tabs is an intuitive way to organize and collect your open Web pages.”

 

Extensions go to 11

 

Opera 11 also introduces extensions, browser add-ons that enhance the capabilities of Opera. In the three weeks since extensions debuted in the alpha release of Opera 11, more than 500,000 extensions have been downloaded. Thanks to a new developer mode in Opera 11 beta, extensions are even easier to make. Developers can use the developer mode to launch, test and package extensions quickly.

Mouse gestures provide a simple and effective way to control Opera with a few simple mouse movements. Since their introduction in Opera 5, mouse gestures have proven to be one of the most loved Opera features. In Opera 11, a new visual interface highlights mouse paths and helps guide the discovery, use and mastery of these powerful shortcuts. HD 69xx details and specifictions ,HD 6970 Vs HD 5870 tested

Rumors appears on the net about the next AMD dual GPUs graphic card showing more information about the next AMD HD 69xx series Cayman-based graphic card, it is a slide show with a date of 18 November , the slides also shows the first benchmark test of the HD 6970 from AMD VS the current HD 5870 one on a tessellation performance test and the new Cayman-based architecture used .

According to the leaked slide the Radeon HD 6990 offers a total of 3840 stream processors (1920 per GPU) and four gigabytes of GDDR5 memory. Memory bus bandwidth reported is 307.2 gigabytes per second, the TDP value is 300 watts and running at 30 watts during sleep mode , the outputs according to the slideshow are two DVI-and three mini-DisplayPort connector.
