The FX series name will be used in AMD Bulldozer CPUs

AMD will use again the "FX" brand on its upcoming Bulldozer processors reported  a Turkish tech site :

    Team of researchers at the University of Glasgow managed to create a processor with 1.000 core , yes that's lot of cores , thanx to their new concept and with that number of cores this processor can be twenty times faster than "modern computers" reported engadget:

    We've already seen field programmable gate arrays (or FPGAs) used to create energy efficient supercomputers, but a team of researchers at the University of Glasgow led by Dr. Wim Vanderbauwhede now say that they have "effectively" created a 1,000 core processor based on the technology. To do that, the researchers divvied up the millions of transistors in the FPGA into 1,000 mini-circuits that are each able to process their own instructions -- which, while still a proof of concept, has already proven to be about twenty times faster than "modern computers" in some early tests.

    AMD HD 7000 series 28nm mobile GPU , first specification leaked and performance revealed

    The new AMD HD 7000 series 28nm mobile GPU specification appeared and primary performance revealed.
    The fist information about the next AMD 28nm mobile GPU linup is out , donanimhaber guys managed to get unofficial AMD The high-end GPU information which code named "Wimbledon" , this chip is for sure will be used in Mobility Radeon HD 7000 series, the chip is expected be ready for production in Q2 2012. 


    The new mobile aimed GPU will use MXM 3.0 form factorand expected to be 1.4 times faster than fastest moble GPU available , the Blackcomb HD 6000 GPU series, the Wimbledon is interconnected with 2GB of GDDR5 via 256bit memory interfaceand having a TDP set at 65 Watt+.


    Update : Donanimhaber.com posted more details for the lineup and the new four 28nm mobile GPUs performance compared , the Wimbledon ultra high-end GPU will be followed by Heathrow, Chelsea and Thames.
    Heathrow GPU will most likely have two versions, with either 128 or 192-bit memory interface and its 1.3 times faster than the performance class Chelsea GPU with TDP between 35 to 45W.
    The Chelsea use a 128-bit memory interface and include 1GB GDDR5 or 2GB of GDDR3 memory , the TDP is betwen 20 to 30W and should be 1.3 times faster than 40nm GPU Whistler GPU.
    The last one is the Thames 28nm GPU, which use 128-bit memory interface and TDP here is between 15 and 20W , the Thames is 2 times faster than the Seymour,  a 40nm GPU also scheduled for early 2011.

    MSI N580GTX and R6970 Lightning spoted

    MSI is well known for its overclocked lighting edition , after the success of its N480GTX Lightning, today pictures appeared on the web sowing us the first images of the next high end lighting edition cards , the R6970 Lightning and N580GTX Lightning based on the AMD Radeon HD 6970 and Nvidia GTX 580 GPU respectively .

    The two cards come up with a new cooling solution called Twin Frozr IIIand with a large PCBs compared to the standard PCBs .

    This is like a bomb news for Scientists, for the first time on the history of human kind , the human eyes can now see the X-Ray .
    Thanx to a camera that able to works at one-sixth the speed of light and captured a lightning strike X-Ray radiation with the help of a rockets and wires During a recent thunderstorms in Camp Blanding, Florida.

    "Something moving this fast would go from the Earth to the moon in less than ten seconds," said Joseph Dwyer National Geographic News quoted , a lightning researcher at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.

    "We see the x-ray source descending with the lightning at up to one-sixth the speed of light."

    Look like AMD leave The Radeon HD 6950 unlocked because it can switch from 1408 to 1536 shaders and even reching the HD 6970 clocks speed , this BIOS upgrade can be applied on all available HD 6950 on the market until now , also AMD made it easier and safer with the dual-BIOS feature on its HD 6900 series cards and if something goes wrong you can always go for the factory protected BIOS.

    1. Grab ATI Winflash from here (32 & 64-bit).
    2. Download HD 6970 BIOS. The Sapphire one I linked to will work on all reference design cards from any vendor.
    3. Make sure the BIOS switch on the card is set to the 1 position (pictured further down if you don't know where it is).
    4. Run ATI Winflash, click Save to save your BIOS, so you have a backup in case something goes wrong.
    5. Load the HD 6970 BIOS into Winflash by clicking Load Image, followed by Program.
    6. Let the flashing process complete and reboot your system.
    7. Check the shader count using GPU-Z, it should show 1536. Make sure you use the linked version of GPU-Z, the official 0.4.9 version does not support HD 6900 Series properly. If you see a shader count of 1600, your GPU-Z version is outdated and you should get the one from the link here.
    8. To ensure maximized performance open Catalyst Control Center, go to the Overdrive tab and set the PowerTune slider to the +20% setting. The "Testing" section of this article has more data on that.
    9. Check stability in Windows desktop applications and games.
    If you get an error like ID mismatch or Could not erase ROM, then you'll have to do some extra work in a Windows command prompt (or DOS): Run atiwinflash -unlockrom 0 followed by atiwinflash -f -p 0 bios.bin where bios.bin is the path and filename of the HD 6970 BIOS you downloaded.

    Geforce GTX 560 Specifications leaked and the release date

    A recent GPU-Z screenshot appeared on the Chinese expreview forum pages , the Nvidia GF114 GPU based graphic card will be available sometime in January .

    The specifications which we can gather from the GPU-Z screen-shot are 384 CUDA cores and 820MHz for the GPU, 1640MHz for shaders and 4000MHz for the 1024MB GDDR5 memory paired up with a 256-bit memory interface, we can guess that these specs are 80% accurate , unfortunately the release date is about a month from now , lets just wait to confirm that .

    After its massive launch , rumors say that Microsoft Kinect will get a firmware update soon with a According to Eurogamer , the new update would make it possible to detect the player finger movement and hand rotation :

    After Intel reveals that it will use the new R&D wafer fab in Hillsboro 450mm today TSMC reveals it may make its yet-to-be-built Fab 16 compatible with 450mm production gear.

    Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has said it remains flexible on its yet-to-be-built "Fab 16" supporting equipment used to make chips on 18-inch wafers.
