Intel X79 specifications and release date leaked on a roadmap

Personally I miss my old LGA 775 socket , I've spent years with my 775 pins , now Intel is going mad ! socket version change like any software version.

Today we spotted slides showing Intel roadmap of the enthusiasts X79 chipset which use the latest 2011-pin LGA socket supporting the Sandy Bridge-E (enthusiast) series , so Intel decide not to release an X68 and skip the X60 series to the new X79, featuring up to 14 SATA connection and up to 10 SATA 6Gb/s and eight SAS (serial-attached SCSI) , 14 USB 2.0 and the bad news is that there is no sign of USB 3.0, Thunderbolt technology or even PCI-E 3.0 standard, so what's interesting from Intel on this chipset is the support of eight core processors , the quad DDR3 channel support and wider range of connectivity .

The release date is set to Q4 2011 .
