New OCZ HSDL SSD interface Technology

OCZ developed the HSDL to eliminate I/O bottlenecks and enable SSD technology to operate at its full performance . So OCZ aims to enhance the high performance computing (HPC) and I/O-intensive infrastructures for its clients.

"Solid State Drive throughput speeds are increasing at a rate in excess of what current storage buses can support, and as a result, storage protocols are quickly becoming the bottleneck to storage subsystem performance," said Ryan Petersen, CEO of OCZ Technology. "Designed for both high-performance computing and enterprise storage applications, our new High Speed Data Link interface addresses this issue and revolutionizes data storage by significantly outperforming other current interfaces delivering performance at levels that saturate most CPU busses."
Capable of running up to 20Gbps of data bandwidth per channel, HSDL significantly outperforms existing storage interfaces such as Serial ATA (SATA) and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) which only offer 3Gbps/6Gbps data rates. Furthermore, multiple HSDL channels can be combined for maximum bandwidth to increase productivity levels in both consumer and enterprise applications.

Intel 6 (P67/H67) series chipset to support USB 3.0

Intel may surprise everybody by confirming that the next Intel 6 series sandy bridge chipset known as the Intel P67 and Intel H67 will support native USB 3.0 as reported on fudzilla , if this really happen it would be a great news .

"However, just like Intel didn’t talk about wireless display before the launch, it wanted to keep USB 3.0 support as a last minute surprise. At this time we can confirm that notebooks based on Intel 6 series chipset will have native support for USB 3.0.
We’ve even saw the blue USB slot, something that is common for USB 3.0 capable USB ports. We have asked around and it turns out that USB 3.0 native support is there, but Intel didn’t want to talk about it, as apparently the USB 3.0 spec is still not 100 percent closed and Intel is a bit careful. Basically the company didn’t want to announce support before it was a 100 percent sure".

AMD Eight-Core Bulldozer CPU Cache is 77% bigger Vs Six-Core

The eight-core microprocessors from Advanced Micro Devices based on the Bulldozer micro-architecture that feature Orochi design will get massive internal cache systems compared to current-generation of chips. In total, the top-of-the-range single-die processor will have 16MB of cache.

AMD Orochi chip (which is a universal server and client design that will power Valencia, Zambezi and possibly other implementations of first-gen Bulldozer family) will have 8MB unified level-three cache, according to a document seen by X-bit labs. Since eight-core Orochi features four dual-core Bulldozer modules, each of which is believed to have 2MB of shared level-two cache, the whole chip will pack in whopping 16MB of SRAM, a 77% increase from the current six-core microprocessors that have 9MB of cache in total.

X-Bit labs reports:
AMD Orochi chip (which is a universal server and client design that will power Valencia, Zambezi and possibly other implementations of first-gen Bulldozer family) will have 8MB unified level-three cache, according to a document seen by X-bit labs. Since eight-core Orochi features four dual-core Bulldozer modules, each of which is believed to have 2MB of shared level-two cache, the whole chip will pack in whopping 16MB of SRAM, a 77% increase from the current six-core microprocessors that have 9MB of cache in total.
Large L2 caches will help AMD's next-generation microprocessors to ensure higher performance in single-threaded applications compared to today's multi-core chips that only have 512KB of L2, whereas massive L3 cache will maximize memory bandwidth. In both cases this will bring notable performance gains compared to today's Stars/Greyhound architecture.
AMD Orochi design is the company's next-generation processor for high-end desktop and server markets. The chip will feature eight processing engines, but since it is based on Bulldozer micro-architecture, those cores will be packed into four modules. Every module which will have two independent integer cores (that will share fetch, decode and L2 functionality) with dedicated schedulers, one floating point unit with two 128-bit FMAC pipes with one FP scheduler. The chip will have shared L3 cache, new dual-channel DDR3 memory controller and will use HyperTransport 3.1 bus. The Orochi chips will use new AM3+ form-factor and will require brand new platforms [via xbitlabs].

DirectX11 Coming To Linux (Not windows XP)

As reported over at Phoronix, the Direct X 11 API now has an open source implementation on top of Gallium3d which should ease porting of games to Linux with or without Wine. While still in its infancy, you can see where this is heading. All this while Microsoft hasn't offered DX11 for their own aging WindowsXP. Could it be that Linux may soon support this Microsoft API better than Microsoft itself?

Mozilla Kraken Browser Benchmark tester

"Mozilla has released the first version a new browser benchmark called Kraken. Mozilla's Robert Sayre writes on his blog, 'More than Sunspider, V8, and Dromaeo, Kraken focuses on realistic workloads and forward-looking applications. We believe that the benchmarks used in Kraken are better in terms of reflecting realistic workloads for pushing the edge of browser performance forward. These are the things that people are saying are too slow to do with open web technologies today, and we want to have benchmarks that reflect progress against making these near-future apps universally available.' On my somewhat elderly x86_64 Linux system Google Chrome 6.0.472.55 beta completes the Kraken benchmark in 28638.1 milliseconds, Opera 10.62 completes it in 23612.4 milliseconds, and the current Firefox 4 nightly build completes it in 19897.5 milliseconds."

Intel 32 Core CPU , Quad-HyperThreading Super Chip with 128 threads

Intel has been shipping industry design and development kits codenamed "Knights Ferry" to select developers. Intel says that this MIC architecture is derived from several Intel projects, including Larrabee and such Intel Labs research projects as the Single-chip Cloud Computer.

While not many specifics are known about the Knights Corner chip, the Knights Ferry servers used to power the Wolfenstein tech demo had chips with 32 x86 cores clocked at 1.2GHz, capable of processing four threads per core – allowing it to handle 128 threads. Four of these were used in the Wolfenstein demo.

PCI Express 3.0 specifications realase date

Now that newer PCs are rocking PCI Express 2.0 slots, it's time for an upgrade, don't you think? EE Times reports that PCI-SIG will complete the PCI Express 3.0 base spec by November, having released a 0.9 version of the specification for review about a month ago.

PCIe 3.0 will enable data rates up to 8GT/s. According to PCI-SIG, that will translate into top speeds of 1GB/s per lane per direction, or 32GB/s for a x16 link—essentially twice as fast as PCIe 2.0 and four times as fast as the first-gen standard. EE Times expects PCIe 3.0 to come in handy for high-end graphics cards, upcoming 40Gbps Ethernet adapters, and high-end solid-state drives.

Gymkhana THREE, Part 2 is leaked showing ken block driving the ford fiesta car on an Ultimate Playground; l'Autodrome, France .

"Shot just south of Paris, France in Linas at l'Autodrome de Linas --Montlhéry, this 1.58 mile oval track, built in 1924, features banks as steep as 51 degrees, which is more than double the standard incline of most NASCAR ovals. Chosen by Ken for this specific reason, the ramp-like banking proved to be a unique and exciting challenge. The driving physics for the stunts performed were totally unknown until Ken attempted the maneuvers during filming."
