Kinect for Windows price and features is now official

After one year of the release for the Xbox 360 console, Microsoft today launch the Kinect for Windows, a PC version of the most selling gadget in the history as they entered the Guiness World Records last year.

The new Kinect for Windows is not just a re-brand of the previous console version, its build specially for PC users featuring a new sensor hardware exclusively designed for close-range detection and capture with a new Near Mode feature allowing detection of objects as close as 40 centimetres from the device with no problems and 3 meters max distance, in addition to the hardware release, Microsoft launch the SDK Version for developing Kinect applications which can be downloaded over here, requiring at least Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.

The PC software version can support up to four kinect connected to the same machine, an improved skeletal tracking and faster movement detection.

The price of the Kinect for Windows is quite high compared with the Kinect for Xbox 360, set to $249 MSRP, may be, or for sure this price tag will go down after a few weeks
