Radeon HD 8870 and 8850 Vs 7800 specifications, performance and prices appearance

Time move fast when coming to GPUs production, AMD just introduced two GPU specifications from the next series of their HD 8000 graphic cards, the AMD Radeon HD 8870 and Radeon HD 8850 which features the same 28nm process technology used on the 7000 series.

According to the sources, these GPUs are based on the new silicon codenamed "Oland", XT for the HD 8870 and PRO for the HD 8850, the two powered with 3.4 billion transistors with around 270 mm² die-area, according to the leaked table, the HD 8870 core is clocked @ 1050Mhz and 1100Mhz for boost clock, and 925Mhz/975Mhz for the HD 8850, the stream processors number is not mentioned, video memory is clocked @ 6Ghz.

Moving to performance, the HD 8870 is way better than the predecessor HD 7870 graphic card, with up to 75% higher single-precision floating point performance and 60% higher double-precision floating point speed, memory bandwidth also increased by 25%, and the nice number is the price, just 279$ compared with 349$ for the HD 7870, also for the HD 8850 the performance is boosted up to 70% compared with the HD 7850 with a price 50$ lower at 199$, check out the table for more details.
